The couple met in an Irish bar in Brisbane when they were both travelling round Australia in 2012.
The couple got engaged in 2014 during a trip to Bali and as soon as they arrived back home to Melbourne they got started on wedding planning.
“We decided that there was no time like the present to begin planning our wedding. We both loved the idea of a destination wedding and had both visited Portugal numerous times as children and loved it. We started doing some research online and found The Algarve Wedding planners. They were AMAZING! From our initial Skype meeting with Paula, we knew we were making the right choice. Our wedding planner Karina was a delight to work with. The planning began in October 2014 and we enjoyed every aspect of it,” said Aoife.
Even though she had been living in Australia since 2013, Aoife really wanted to choose her wedding gown with her mum and older sister, so flew home in December 2014 with a mission to find it. “I booked an appointment at Town Bride in Powerscourt shopping centre and the fourth dress I tried on I knew it was the one! Colm at Town Bride was incredible, his professionalism and knowledge about bridal wear made me feel so at ease and I knew I was in safe hands,” she said.
The couple were married on September, 14th last year and held their traditional church wedding at Boliqueime, on the Algarve. Their reception was held in Grande Real Santa Eulalia, Albufeira.
“The day was absolutely perfect!! I know this answer doesn’t make for intriguing reading but we honestly could not fault a single aspect. From the moment we woke up on the 14th September 2015 we were smiling and it really was the happiest day of our lives. Choosing my highlight is so hard. I enjoyed every moment of it but I think I would have to say walking down the aisle. When the doors of the church opened and I saw all of our family and friends gathered together to celebrate our wedding was absolutely amazing and also seeing Steve’s expression as he saw me walking towards him” said Aoife.
From the moment you set a date enjoy every aspect of the planning and celebrate as you go along, like when you pick your wedding dress or choose the band. Do your research on the supplier options for your wedding and enjoy the build-up and the excitement.
